In the main event, Floyd Hodges and his devastating striking skills faced off against the talented jiu-jitsu specialist Chris �Swiss� Befera to crown the first ECO Bantamweight Champion. The match started with both fighters measuring distance until Befera landed a couple stinging right leg kicks. Hodges answered the kicks with a sharp left, right, left combo that backed Befera against the fence. Befera tried to clinch, but Hodges backed away as he didn't want the fight to be taken to the ground. Hodges lands a right hand, right hand combo that stunned Befera. Hodges swarmed over Befera landing Brock Lesnar-like hammer fists and referee Sean Sherk stopped the bout midway through the first round. Originally, Thao had been scheduled to challenge Chris Befera for the KTK bantamweight championship. However, an ankle injury to Befera forced Corey Christophersen to find a replacement. Never one to miss a beat, the KTK matchmaker delivered an interim championship matchup between hometown Thao and the ever-improving Floyd Hodges. In recent months, no fighter from the Badger state has developed as quickly as that of Hodges. The compact 135-pounder has bulldozed his way through the competition of late and expects to do so on Saturday. Despite suffering a loss in his pro debut to Josh Kasee, Hodges has since rattled off four straight victories against some of the state�s best fighters. Impressively, Hodges has stopped his final three opponents within the first round. Most recently, it took him only 32 seconds to beat Wade Choate by TKO at Madtown Throwdown. Following his victories over Choate, Chris Befera, Seth Marquez, and John Morehouse, the Team Extreme Pitbulls fighter has ascended to the top of Wisconsin�s bantamweight division. But over the weekend, Hodges� number one ranking will be on the line against Sam Thao. Like Hodges, Thao has developed into one of the most feared bantamweight competitors in Wisconsin. Sporting an identical record to that of his future opponent, the 4-1 Thao has beaten Eugene Crisler, John Hering, and Omar Choudhury on two occasions. While the Wausau native has not fought since May, he had been scheduled to make his debut on the undercard of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. However, a disproportionate record to Jeff Curran ultimately led to his replacement. In hopes of garnering enough battles to once again be invited to the major leagues, Thao will take on the state�s top ranked fighter. While he had originally prepared to take on Chris Befera, Thao previously told WCS that he still planned on utilizing his wrestling ability. Saturday�s main event will feature two former wrestlers who now consider themselves strikers. Both athletes have fight of the night potential, and the winner will be next in line for Befera and his KTK belt. In addition to the intriguing main event, KTK 30: The Takeover will feature three other professional bouts. In a featherweight matchup, Next Level�s Shawn Uecker will take on Jeremy Hemmerich. Joel Allar will face Rising Son�s Jason Mence in the welterweight division, and Mence�s teammate David Hipke will fight a yet unknown opponent in the 145-pound class. Along with the four professional matches, KTK 30 will feature 14 other amateur fights. If tradition holds true to form, Konquer the Kage will once again put on another strong card that excites all in attendance. The battle between Hodges and Thao is worth the price of admission itself. Saturday�s event will be hosted at The Patriot Center inside of the Cedar Creek Mall. The Takeover is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 5:30. A couple of us here at No Surrender Fight Wear have become addicts. We're addicted to collecting Round 5 mma Collectibles. For me it started off during christmas shopping for my nephews. I saw Shogun on a shelf by the nerf section. He was in the wrong spot but it was good that he was there. I picked him up and bought him. A few weeks go by and Shogun looked dumb on my desk all by himself. I chose to get in the car and drive to my local Toys R Us. With my awesome luck, they were all sold out. A week later I tried again and they were sold out! I got on Amazon.com asap status to find out that these figures are hard to find! I ordered Anderson Silva and Wanderlei Silva since they are some of my favorite fighters. From then on, all I know is that these figures find 1 way flights to my house. One day, I'll have them all...and then Round 5 will put out another set for me to get. The endless cycle has begun. I've stumbled upon mighty muggs and how there's a large following of people making custom hand painted vinyl figures. I figured that I would give it a try and make some characters who are worth taking the time to make. I took some spare time, did a little sanding, spray painting and got some paint and brushes out and went to town on a few. First thought, "Damn my hands are killing me!". This digital artwork age has made me spoiled and I forgot how taxing hand painting can be. After regaining my brush stroke that I have left behind years ago when I was an art student in college, I'm feeling ready to take on some worthy MMA Fighters. Stay tuned! UFC Fan Expo Part 1: Wanderlei Silva Signing.

We wanted to check out the scene, see a few fighters and get some of our Round 5 MMA collectibles signed. In an earlier blog, we showed a custom Wanderlei Silva Mighty Muggs. Mike brought it to show Wanderlei and possibly have it signed. After waiting in line (even Brandon Vera walked by and asked who we were waiting for and got all excited and went over to Wandy to take pics) we were able to meet Wanderlei and of course he was one of the nicest guys to meet. You can tell that he tries to remember all of his fans because he told Manny that he's met him before. It was the first time Manny has met him but Wandy really thought he remembered him from another signing. New Mighty Muggs Custom: Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

With some spare time this week I was able to knock out another mighty muggs custom. Yeah I know Cro Cop hasn't been the feared striker he once was but I'm not like most of you fickle MMA Fans. I give credit where credit is due. Mirko Cro Cop was able to do something that probably won't happen ever again. He fought twice in one night finishing Wanderlei Silva by head kick and Finishing Josh Barnett by tapping due to strikes. Wisconsin's top-ranked 135-pounder, Floyd Hodges, made another successful trip to Minnesota. Hodges was careful early against Shaine Emmons, looking to avoid takedown attempts. But eventually, a failed Emmons shot proved costly. With Emmons at his feet, Hodges started raining down punches. He punished Emmons for a good 30 seconds before the ref finally stopped the fight at the 1:51 mark of the first round. Had some spare time this weekend to crank out a new custom mighty muggs figure. I wanted to make one more PrideFC fighter and had to choose Kazushi Sakuraba. He had some great fights early on in Pride and I chose to do the version of him during the Pride Grand Prix 2000 Final when he fought Royce gracie for 6 X 15 minute rounds. That showing was amazing especially because he went on to fight Igor Vovchanchyn later on that night. Give credit where it's due. Sakuraba has entertained a lot of people over the years.
